The trusted partner we wish we'd had.
Several years ago, we spent our honeymoon in Door County and immediately fell in love with its peacefulness, charm, and unmistakable magic. From that first trip, we dreamed about someday having a place of our own here.
In the fall of 2024, that dream became a reality when we purchased a cozy cottage tucked away in the woods. We named it The Dreaming Tree and couldn't wait to share the place we loved with other families.

Like many first-time vacation rental owners, we initially partnered with a large property management company. We expected expert guidance, proactive communication, and strong results. While we learned a lot from the experience, we often felt like one property among many. We couldn't shake the feeling that our home wasn't reaching its full potential, and that our guests deserved a more personal experience.

So, we decided to try something different.

With backgrounds spanning business, real estate, sales, customer service, and technology, we combined what each of us does best and took over the management of The Dreaming Tree ourselves. We built systems and behind-the-scenes tools to handle the administrative work efficiently, giving us more time to focus on what we believe actually drives a successful vacation rental: a great listing, smart pricing, a memorable brand, exceptional guest experiences, and responsive, personal communication.

The results exceeded our expectations.

Bookings and revenue increased significantly, guest satisfaction improved, and The Dreaming Tree began performing the way we always believed it could. Just as importantly, we discovered that managing a vacation rental didn't have to mean choosing between doing everything yourself and handing everything over to a large management company. There was another way.

As our systems evolved, we realized the same approach could help other Door County owners who wanted professional support without giving up control of their property, their accounts, or their relationship with their guests. So we created Don't Stay Home Co-Hosting.
​
We're not trying to manage hundreds of vacation rentals. We're intentionally building a small, local portfolio so we can know the homes we represent, know the owners we work with, and provide the kind of attention that brought us here in the first place.

Our mission is simple: to be the trusted partner we wish we'd had. One who treats your home like it's our own and treats you like a partner, not an account number.
